Call recorded on Mobile phone
The court heard of the mobile phone call made shortly after the attack and how it had been recorded in the phone's internal memory.
The prosecution barrister Tessa Kitson read from the phone records which showed the phone was a pay as you go type, the owner had not been registered and the call recorded had been made from the same phone to its own message bank. She said the call had been made at 21:40 GMT shortly after the attack on Masserene barracks.
Records showed that a message reminder text sent seconds later was located at Carngranny - which is understood to be a townland in County Antrim.
Evidence not labeled or signed
Also later today, Jason Bennett, a forensic scientist was giving evidence from the dock. He was telling the court of the items he had taken possession of. Among them were various items from the car including the tip of the latex glove and items taken from Colin's home.
When cross-examined by Defense barrister Mark Mulholland, regarding the tip of the latex glove. Mr Bennett said that it had been taken from him and sent to Cellmark laboratories in England before he had got a chance to examine it
He also was told of how this piece of evidence had arrived at Cellmark laboratories without being labeled or signed. When asked if that was normal procedure he replied that it wasn't.
