Hundreds of republicans, including ex-POWs and families of Maghaberry POWs, protested outside Maghaberry Gaol today 4th July 2010. This was the third such event organised by the Families, Friends and Ex-POWs campaign group. Tony Catney, himself a former POW, chaired the proceedings. Gary Donnelly, a recently released POW, gave a vivid account of the conditions and treatment that the POWs have been subjected to since commencing their protest. Caitríona Duffy then spoke of the conversations she has had with her father Colin since the protest began. The main message coming from both Gary and Catríona's speeches was that despite having to endure such horrendous treatment the POWs are "confident of victory".
